Historic talks

This walking tour will be led by local history enthusiast, Mike Loftus who will lead a walk celebrating the town’s history and many aspects of the town’s carpet industry, we will Meet at the Museum of Carpet, and take a circular walk through town and up to St Mary’s church, concluded with a visit to see the waterfall by the ring road in action.
Refreshments on arrival to the Museum of Carpet and free entry to the Musuem are included in the ticket price.
The walk will take approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, and includes some steps and slopes when approaching St Mary’s church. Depending on weather please ensure you bring appropriate footwear and clothing.

Textile Conservation: a stitch in time

£12 per ticket, and includes a tour of our Frocks and Floors, Fibre and Fabrics exhibition.
Michelle Harper ACR, has been a textile conservator since 1992. Her clients include national museums, independent historic houses, the National Trust, English Heritage and private individuals.
As a National Trust textile advisor she also has experience of working on mixed media objects including train carriages, horse drawn carriages, shoes, parasols, steam boat interiors and general upholstery.
Michelle Harper has an existing connection to the Museum of Carpet, having worked on the Kidderminster Carpet Weavers Association banner on display. Michelle was an obvious choice as a speaker for this year’s Summer Exhibition, focusing on textile preservation and sustainability.
All proceeds go to the Museum and we are very grateful for the support of knowledgeable local historians and our wonderful volunteer team.
