Note that we open subject to volunteer availability: please check with us in advance if you are making a long/special journey specifically to visit the museum.
Power-loom demonstrations are the highlight of most visits. These are generally held at 12 noon. We only run the power-looms once per opening session in order to keep costs down.

Colin Simmonds
Landscape Paintings of the Severn Valley and the Wyre Forest
Our Autumn Exhibition is on until Saturday 10 October. Do come and see local artist, Colin’s Simmonds, landscape paintings of the Severn Valley and the Wyre Forest.
Artist’s Statement
These paintings were produced over a period of four to five years. In preparation for the final works—all painted in oil on canvas—Colin created numerous watercolours, pen-and-ink drawings, and oil studies.
His work has developed considerably over the years, and this body of paintings emerged partly as a reaction against more abstract approaches. He has always believed that working directly from nature is essential to achieving a genuine connection with, and understanding of, the purpose of painting.
Colin trained at the Moseley School of Art and Birmingham College of Art. He has exhibited widely, including with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Royal Pastel Society. His work is held in the collection of the Arts Council of Great Britain, and he is a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
