Key Stage 2

‘What Are You Standing On?’

Travel back in time to 1823 and meet The Carpet Master, Weaver and Spinner to find out how they lived and worked.

Enjoy weaving workshops and spinning demonstrations by our team of skilled interpreters. Meet Mr Pardoe, and learn about the life of a Carpet Master and his weavers in the early 1800s. Compare the production of carpet before and after the Industrial revolution, and design your own carpet in our unique design gallery.

Our KS2 programme helps to encourage children to think about Kidderminster’s Heritage, Art and Industry by learning about the carpet under their feet.

Feedback

‘The pitch and the length of each of the sessions was absolutely perfect for our Year 3 pupils. Your staff were excellent and the children (and adults) have learnt so much today. Lots of stories have come out since arriving back at school about grandparents and other relatives who worked in the carpet trade here in Kidderminster. This is exactly what we had hoped for to kick off our new Local History Topic’. St Catherine’s C of E Primary School, Kidderminster
